Let’s go to the park

This weather has been so crazy this winter. I can’t believe that we are having 40 and 50 degree days in February! I love seeing the sun . . . and the ground. No Snow! So, to celebrate, we took Ash to the park today. This guy enjoyed the slide and running around like all the other kids. I’m sure this is becoming a weekly event.

simple things

We only have a few more days until this little man is one. The baby phase is quickly moving away, and the toddler phase is ready to take over. I have cherished every moment of this time with our little man. Each stage has been a joy. Now that he is beginning to walk, I know this phase will only be around for a little while longer. I want to make sure and capture as much as I can of him right now. So, I spent some time capturing him in his crib, catching these precious memories of him standing up, smiling at us, as we come in to get him after nap time. These are the moments I will look back on when he is throwing a tantrum or bringing home his first girlfriend. I know I will be glad I have these pictures then!

bath time

This kid loves bath time. He could spend hours splashing around and chewing on his toys. He has on occasion, heard the bathtub water running and came crawling in trying to climb into the bathtub. He also gets upset every time he is taken out, no matter how long we let him play. Sometimes, we even wait until his hands and arms are cold because we know how much he loves it, and he still cries. This kid is crazy, but we are loving every minute of watching his personality come alive.

Our lesson: Stay out of the splash zone! This kid is worse than Shamu!

explorer

I love watching this kid explore. He insists on pulling himself on everything, being able to see what is happening in all areas of the house.feet a1 DSC_0038 Today he insisted on watching his daddy mow the lawn. Unfortunately, he is not quite tall enough to see out yet. But, give him time. I know it won’t be long now.

sweet home

We are so happy to finally buy a new couch. It has been five years of us waiting for this moment. In honor of our new couch (which came today, yay!) I wanted to add a new pillow. So, I made this one.

DSC_0161I really like all those wreath designs with sayings that are really popular on the internet and pinterest right now. So, I thought, why not make one on a pillow? I embroidered the wreaths and flowers. I wanted to tie in the coral curtains and frames with the couch, so I made sure the back of the pillow had a coral print. I cut the words out of black felt and glued them on with fabric glue. It was great that I happened to have all the supplies at home, so it cost nothing. Score! DSC_0133 DSC_0138

Now, I can’t wait to make another pillow. I’m excited about the new design I have come up with.

DSC_0148 DSC_0177Well, I better go, we are busy cozying up on our couch and watching some episodes of Alias, now that Ash is ready for bed.

a look back . . .

I have been going through all our old photo creating our photobook from our first year of marriage. It’s been great looking through all our pictures, reliving the events of that year. I really can’t believe all that we did in the first year of our marriage. We began with our honeymoon, I completed student teaching and graduated from college, and we moved from San Diego to Kansas City. Zach started his Master’s and I began life in the workforce. We also adopted our beautiful Kona Bear that year as well. I can’t believe how tiny she was when we brought her home. What a fun year!

a day off

We enjoyed having a day at home to take pictures, put away outgrown clothes, organize new ones, play, and watch the olympics. Can’t every day be President’s Day?
